Information - Your Costs Explained

Settlement Agreement

The fees in relation to Settlement Agreement varies, but the average is between £250.00 and do not generally exceed £500.00 (plus VAT if applicable).

Our policy is we never charge our client any more than the fee recovered from the Employer.

In nearly all cases of Settlement Agreements, there is a clause within the Agreement whereby our costs are met by the employer, meaning there is no cost to you.

Acting for Claimants

Stephen Pinder Employment Law Limited acts for clients who are Claimants in pursuing Protective Award Claims

These claims are usually dealt with on a No Win - No Fee basis, whereby you only pay our reasonable costs should your claim be successful and compensation has been awarded by negotiation or by way of a Judgment issued by an Employment Tribunal.

We will act on a No Win - No Fee basis.  For example, if we apply a charge of 25% inclusive of VAT being deducted from any compensation awarded, the cost to you would be as follows:-

If you were awarded the sum £1,000.00, we would deduct 25% inclusive of any VAT (if applicable).  You would pay us £250.00 for our costs, with the balance of £750 being paid to you.

If you were awarded the sum £3,000.00, we would deduct 25% inclusive of any VAT (if applicable).  You would pay us £750.00 for our costs, with the balance of £2,250.00 being paid to you.

If you were awarded the sum £10,000.00, we would deduct 25% inclusive of any VAT (if applicable).  You would pay us £2,500.00 for our costs, with the balance of £7,500.00 being paid to you.

Other Employment Claims

Unfair Dismissal, and cases involving allegations of discrimination (e.g. maternity, disability and whistleblowing).  Other cost options can be discussed in detail, dependent on the circumstances/type of the claim.  However, the majority of individuals do prefer to proceed with a No Win - No Fee Agreement. See above for how such agreements operate. If we charge for advice or representation our standard hourly rate is £275

General Legal Advice

For general legal advice, an agreed hourly rate can be considered or the alternative, again dependent on the advice, a fixed fee can also be an option. Our standard hourly rate is £275.

The most suitable option will be discussed with an individual which best suits their circumstances and needs at any initial meeting.

You may also be entitled to help with legal costs if you are a member of a trade union, or if you have legal expenses insurance.
